Global campaign

Rewrite the Future is the first global campaign involving all 28 members of Save the Children. Save the Children is calling on governments and international agencies to put policies and resources in place to provide quality education for all children. More than 37 million children around the world can't go to school because they live in countries affected by conflict. This is over half the number of children out of school worldwide. Millions more are receiving a substandard education.

Through this campaign Save the Children intends to bring education and hope to those millions of children affected by conflict.

Why care?

Millions of children around the world suffer the wars of adults. Caught in a cycle of poverty and conflict, it can seem as though their future has already been written for them. But with education, these children can rewrite their future.

“I just want to go to school”

This is what children have told Save the Children again and again, even in the midst of a conflict. They deserve quality education that can keep them safe, help them recover from their experiences of war, and empower them to build a more peaceful and prosperous future in their community.

It can be done

Together with you and many others, Save the Children has improved the quality of education for 5.7 million children including getting 815,000 children into school. Save the Children is also co-leading the Global Education Cluster ensuring education continues even in the midst of emergencies.

Change around the world

From the G8 to the UN Security Council, Save the Children has secured high-profile recognition of the importance of education for children affected by armed conflict. And in the past year Save the Children has seen significant policy or funding changes by governments in Colombia, Liberia, Uganda and the United States.
